Overview
This new 2026 Peterbilt 536 medium-duty conventional has an Aero 107" BBC hood and an aluminum day cab. It is built for city delivery with a 26' aluminum van body and a 4,000 lb liftgate. The chassis is set up for a 312" body length and a 162" body height, and the whole truck is painted white.
Engine & Drivetrain
The truck is powered by a PACCAR PX-7 engine rated at 250 HP at 2,400 RPM, governed at 2,600 RPM, with 660 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 RPM. It is a 2025 model-year engine built to 2024 series emissions and configured for efficiency. It is paired with a PACCAR TX-8 8AP660 8-speed automatic transmission with PTO provision, a TP650N torque converter and a right-side column-mounted shifter. A VGT exhaust brake is included. The rear axle ratio is 5.29, and the powertrain is optimized for fuel economy at a typical operating speed of 68 MPH. Max PTO speed is set at 1,400 RPM. The engine idle shutdown timer is enabled at 10 minutes, with a warning before shutdown and an ambient-temperature overrule. Engine protection shutdown is enabled.
Electrical equipment starts with a PACCAR 160-amp brushed alternator and a PACCAR 12V starter. Two PACCAR Premium 12V batteries provide 2,000 CCA, backed by a low-voltage disconnect system, a battery disconnect switch and an under-hood jumper terminal. The engine also has an 18.7 CFM air compressor, a Horton on/off fan clutch and a high-efficiency cooling system. Air comes through an engine-mounted air cleaner with a restriction indicator. Fuel runs through a PACCAR fuel/water separator with 12V fuel filter heat. Exhaust is a single right-side horizontal system, with the DPF/SCR in one module under the right side of the frame. Power reaches the rear axle through an SPL100 driveline with two midship bearings. The electronics use the EMUX architecture.
Chassis & Axles
The wheelbase is 266", with 198.5" cab-to-axle and 333.5" cab-to-end-of-frame. The frame uses 10-5/8" steel rails with 5/16" rail thickness, a heavy-duty 5-piece crossmember and a square end of frame prepared for a crossmember installed by the body builder. The front axle is a Meritor MFS10 rated 10,000 lbs with a 3.5" drop, and steering is Sheppard HD94 power steering. The rear axle is a Meritor MS21-14X single drive rated 21,000 lbs, and all axles use synthetic lubricant. Meritor EX+L optimized air disc brakes are fitted front and rear, with PHP10 aluminum PreSet+ hubs and a 4S4M anti-lock braking system (ABS).
Air equipment includes a Bendix AD-HF heated air dryer with a coalescing filter, steel air tanks and nylon chassis hoses. The fuel tank is a 100-gallon D-shaped aluminum tank behind the cab on the left side. It sits alongside a 14-gallon DEF tank with a polished stainless cover. The chassis is fueled from one central point. The chrome steel bumper is tapered and has two tow points.
Suspension
The front suspension uses 10,000 lb mono-leaf springs with shocks. The rear uses the 21,000 lb lightweight Peterbilt Low Air Leaf suspension, with a dash-mounted dump switch and indicator light and an air suspension pressure gauge. The cab also rides on air suspension.
Cab & Interior
The cab has a Peterbilt Aero hood with a bright-finish crown and a ProBilt interior in charcoal gray with a curved roof. The driver sits on a Sears high-back air-ride seat in black vinyl with a right-side armrest. The passenger side has a Sears two-person bench with a toolbox underneath. The multi-function Peterbilt steering wheel has audio and cruise controls and sits on a tilt/telescoping column, and the turn signals are self-canceling. For audio, there is a ConcertClass AM/FM/weatherband radio with 3.5mm aux, Bluetooth phone and audio, a USB port and two speakers. Telematics hardware is also installed.
The cab has power windows and locks, dark window tint, a one-piece curved windshield and a fixed one-piece rear window. Climate comes from a combination fresh-air heater and A/C, and the cab has a thermal insulation package. The 7" digital cluster shows transmission oil temperature, engine hours, turbo boost and engine percent torque, and the speedometer is dual-scale. Outside, there is a stainless steel sunvisor, motorized and heated aero mirrors with integrated convex lenses, and a look-down mirror over the passenger door. Other equipment includes metal door kick plates, an under-cab air horn and two additional dash switches, along with auto-reset circuit protection, a backup alarm, a fire extinguisher and a triangle reflector kit. The left-side battery box and right-side toolbox under the cab both have non-slip steps.
Exterior lighting includes composite fender-mounted headlights with integrated DRLs, five chrome LED aero marker lights and LED stop/turn/tail/backup lights at the end of the frame. The paint is Axalta two-stage white on the cab, hood, fenders and roof, with a black frame.
Body & Equipment
The body is a 26' aluminum van, Model 26-102-102, installed with the proper cab-to-axle and bed height. At the rear is a premium roll-up door set in a stainless steel rear frame with two grab handles. The floor is 1-1/8" laminated hardwood with a 24" treadplate threshold, and it is forklift reinforced with extra rear crossmembers and a front wall plate. The front wall is 1/2" plywood. The side walls are 3/8" plywood with a 12" steel kickplate along the lower walls and two rows of E-track at 24" and 48" from the floor to centerline. Three dome lights light the interior. The liftgate is a Waltco HLF-40 level-ride tuckaway unit rated at 4,000 lbs, with a 60" x 84" aluminum platform and cart stops. A bumper and step package completes the body.
Tires & Wheels
The front tires are 14-ply 11R22.5 HSR3 and the rear tires are 14-ply 11R22.5 HDR2+, four on the rear. All wheels are Alcoa ULA187 22.5 x 8.25 high-polish aluminum.
